Jon Stewart may be off of television, but he's not out of politics.

He's currently lobbying members of Congress to renew a compensation package for the first responders who braved their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. You can see him chase down Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer, trying to gather her support for the bill.

He also had some stern words to say, according to CBS, at a Sept. 16 rally.

During a rally in front of the U.S. Capitol, flanked by law enforcement representatives and members of New York's congressional delegation, Stewart said he's "embarrassed" it's taken a public lobbying for Congress to "do what's right" and renew the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.

"I'm here today basically to apologize," he began. "I want to apologize to all of the men and women, the first responders, that you had to come down here today. I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for our country. I'm embarrassed for New York. I'm embarrassed that you, after serving so selflessly with such heroism have to come down here and convince people to do what's right for the illnesses and difficulties that you suffered because of your heroism and because of your selflessness."

"Nobody had to lobby you to rush to those towers on that day," recalled Stewart, who interviewed several first responders during his time at the Daily Show and has been active in 9/11 charities.

After 14 years of lying, Steve Rannazzisi, who you might know as Kevin from The League has come clean about Sept. 11.

In multiple interviews, including on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron, Rannazzisi told a story of how he was in the tower when the first plane hit and only barely escaped the tragedy with his life. He credited this experience for why he decided to pursue a career in entertainment.

The New York Times reported Sept. 16 that conflicting accounts led to Rannazzisi admitting the truth.

Confronted this week, though, with evidence that undermined his account, Mr. Rannazzisi, after a day of deliberation, acknowledged on Tuesday that his account was fiction. Actually, he had been working in Midtown that day, and not for Merrill Lynch, which has no record of his employment and had no offices in either tower.

"I was not at the Trade Center on that day," he said in a statement provided by his publicist, Matthew Labov. "I don't know why I said this. This was inexcusable. I am truly, truly sorry."

...Mr. Rannazzisi, who declined requests for an interview, said in his statement that, once he had lied, he could not figure out a way to undo the damage.

"For many years, more than anything," he said, "I have wished that, with silence, I could somehow erase a story told by an immature young man. It only made me more ashamed. How could I tell my children to be honest when I hadn't come clean about this?"

The Times also said that the comedian's endorsers were also rethinking their relationship and it could probably lead towards a hard future in this guy's career.

All you aspiring entertainers out there, here's a tip: Don't lie about your involvement in national catastrophes.

Look Lindsay Lohan, we all know that Sept. 11 is a tough time for many people and that coherent thoughts about the tragedy still evade people even 14 years after the event. But keep it together.

Poor, poor Lindsay decided it would be a great idea to post a picture of herself and a message about Sept. 11(?) last night. But what she actually did was provide a very long, very confusing, very insane-sounding caption about god knows what that ends with "#UnitedNations".

Here's the caption:

they always come back. I love you NYC πŸ’‹they always come back. I love you NYC πŸ’‹ #godblesstheworld #michaeljackson #rip miss you as my real only private friend. For you: god, for all hurts and wrongs, please let me forgive, Allah please let me be forgiven, and all forgive themselves. Please and thank you. (Someone I was with the night before several towers fell, it felt like not a curse, but more like a spell.. What we think in America is not always clear, we don't have @peta commercials / you just kill deer....with this being said, I'm a girl with a reputation mislead... Like a diamond in the rough, you, now, for 25 years have seen me on TV and screen.. So i am programmed πŸ”Ίto stand tough. Black or white - in life, rather than love we create a fight of an ideal situation of an unexceptional, yet unacceptable future that @TMZ @Eonline @HarveylevinTMZ & #harveyweinstein ..couldn't and wouldn't even care to describe any thought of the people we forget to help when a franchise film comes out and, If money means more than freedom- than stay in California. If helping others is a passion, talk to angelina jolie... If you want to be a brilliant actress, work wth Meryl Streep ...at the end of the day- republican or democrats --- BE HERE NOW @oprah and live with integrity. Or go to sleep. The most beautiful life comes cheap. Stop fighting and using artists for distractions. It's boring... πŸ™ #UnitedNations

Either this is performance art, or someone hilarious hopped on her account, or we should all continue to be very worried about her.

Not sure how something conceivably about Sept. 11 turned so quickly into something about Michael Jackson. Not sure why she asks god to help her forgive, but only Allah to let her be forgiven. Not sure if she's mad at Oprah or using her as an example of something good.

Just really not sure.

Look, besides the Truther propaganda hidden in one particular, hilarious frame. It's not the worst of songs or of videos.
