It looks like Tilda Swinton is beating out Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe for the role of The Ancient One, the mentor and ally of Stephen Strange. Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is a former surgeon who after injuring his hands, discovers the supernatural world of magic and demons.

The Ancient One helps Strange become Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, and a prime candidate for The Avengers. While, The Ancient One has typically been portrayed as male, Tilda Swinton seems like the perfect choice to play an ethereal, immortal figure not of this world.

With Game of Thrones season 5 casting now over halfway over, it's the perfect time to receive some season 6 casting news. Lucky for you, that's exactly what Watchers on the Wall reported May 26.

This speculation may easily leak into spoiler territory, so be warned!

Seemingly, the most important news out of their reporting is the apparent casting of Randyll Tarly, otherwise known as Sam's dad. The listing describes the casting as: "Aged 50's to 60's, he's one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros- a humorless martinet, severe and intimidating. He demands martial discipline in the field and in his home."

For those that read the books, if that proves true, it highlights at least one of the plots that would come next year and the places the story will travel.

Here are the other castings Watchers on the Wall announces:

Pirate, man in his 40's to late 50's. He's "an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness." He's a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season.

Mother, in her 50's. She's a sweet, plump, and adoring mother, and has a soft spot for one of her children who benefits from her decency.

Sister, in her early 20s. She's a kind, friendly and unpretentious woman.

Brother, in his early to mid-20's . Athletic, a good hunter, an excellent swordsman, manly, not particularly bright but the favourite child of the father.

Priest, in his 40's or 50's. A gruff ex-soldier who found religion. Now a no-nonsense rural priest who ministers to the poor of the countryside. He's salt-of-the-earth man who has weathered many battles.

What do you think, readers? Any more of those ring a bell?

Father Gabriel Stokes first met Rick's band in issue 65 of The Walking Dead comic series, and now he's coming to the show (played by actor Seth Gilliam). In the comics, Father Stokes survived the outbreak by turning away his own congregation, and now feels he must atone for that sin by preaching to the other survivors. There's a history of mistrust there.

How will he be different in the show? Is he part of the band of Terminus survivors? What do you think?

Former Goonie and star of Jonah Hex, Josh Brolin has all but been confirmed as the voice of penultimate Avenger's villain Thanos. Audiences briefly saw Thanos at the end of The Avengers, but you'll get a better look at him in August's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thanos, will race the Avengers and the Guardians for control over the Five Infinity Gems which make the wielder omnipotent. So far, the only Infinity Gems we know about are the Tesseract from Avengers 1, and The Aether from Thor 2.

Get ready for at least three more MacGuffins.

We've known for a while that Fox has been courting Channing Tatum to star as Gambit in their ever-growing X-Men franchise, and now it's confirmed. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner had this to say at Monday Night's Days of Future Past premiere:

And now, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting that audiences ill first see the Magic Mike star flinging explosive cards, in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. Soon after, audiences will be treated to a Gambit stand-alone film which is still in the very early stages of development.

Personally I feel that seeing the iconic 90's X-Man rubbing elbows with young Magneto and Professor X will be a little weird, but he's the type of character that will play both sides in the mutant debate. Where do you think Gambit will fit in?

If you were worried about Matt Smith's career after leaving Doctor Who, you can stop now. The 11th Doctor was just officially announced to star in a yet-to-be-named role in the next three Terminator movies.

The movie already has Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Connor, and an appearance by Arnold himself. With the good guys pretty much set, we wonder if Smith will try his hand at villainy?

What do you think of the news?
